About Us
RockHobbies.com is a hub for everyone who enjoys collecting rocks, minerals, fossils and lapidary arts. Started in 2010, RockHobbies.com has high hopes of growing to become the largest collection of jewelry, rocks, minerals, and fossils for resale and show. Each of our artist and collector galleries is as unique and interesting as the specimens on display. As the founder of RockHobbies.com, I welcome you to our website and hope you enjoy your visit.

About the founder of RockHobbies.com - Michael Miller

As the founder and webmaster of RockHobbies.com I would like to thank you for stopping in! I hope that you have found our site to be informative and enjoyable.

I graduated from The College of Wooster in Wooster Ohio with a B.A. in archaeology in 2002. While at Wooster I finished a geology and anthropology minor too. I completed a M.A. in experimental archaeology at The University of Exeter in England (2006). I worked in CRM archeology as a Lithic Analyst for several years; basically, I looked at the stone artifacts found during cultural surveys and identified materials, types, and attributes of stone tools while creating data used in site write-ups and reports. I did some field work too.

You may wonder when I first got started in geology and archaeology. I was about 6 years old. My grandfather and I went out rock collecting in a plowed farm filed near their house. It wasn't long till I found my first rocks and arrowheads. After that first discovery I became very interested in Ohio geology and archaeology.

As a youngster, I was a member of the Stark County Gem and Mineral Club. I attended monthly meetings and listened closely to every presentation soaking up all of the knowledge and experience of speakers, club members and friends. I learned about cabbing, polishing, collecting and all the other caveats of rock hounding.

I'm still active in the community giving talks about geology and archaeology to the public. I really enjoying meeting people who share in my borderline addiction to rocks and I hope that you'll write and share your thoughts.
